I am planning on going to graduate school for psychology in the fall. What is the best way to get money for grad school? A job, scholarships, assistantships, etc…. What would you recommend?

Do you want an MS or a PhD?

Most of the PhD programs give aid to their students in the form of fellowships, research assistantships or teaching assistantships. This usually involves free tuition and a stipend that is large enough to live on. It isn't a good idea to work if you are getting a PhD.

Most of the better schools only accept PhD students and do not accept terminal MS students.

Schools that do not have a PhD program but offer an MS are usually not as good — though some have decent programs. They will usually give aid to a few students — but most pay their way through the program.

…especially for voice/opera?

Just asking! Thanx in advance.

Yale University recently got a huge endowment for their arts dept – I’ve heard that if you can get into their graduate programs for music, it’s entirely paid for.
